The city’s 9,000+ hotel workers have been without a contract since August. Hotel ownership & the workers are both playing hardball in negotiations. At issue is the rising costs of health care which the hotels, of course, want to pass onto the workers. It’s the ongoing saga of all of our health insurance and it’s rising costs and worse lack of quality care and even worse getting your health insurance cut off due to a “pre-existing” conditions. We’ve all seen it the past few years of insurance premiums rising seemingly every year. It will never end until we get real “medicare for all” type reform.
